"High on the slope of the Kocher valley, at the western end of the village, in a commanding position, rises Ottendorf's St. Martin's Church."

St. Martin - a church for the Franconian national and church patron saint Martinus of Tours

The history of St. Martin's Church dates back to 1248, when a church in Ottendorf was first mentioned in a document. Initially probably just a simple wooden chapel, it was steadily extended over the centuries: the original chapel was not yet connected to the tower and choir area. In 1482, the choir and tower were extended to form a fortified church tower. The chapel was extended towards the east in 1483 and connected to the current church tower. Other significant structural changes included the raising of the building in 1730 and the installation of the first organ in 1786. The 20th century saw extensive modernization work, including the renovation of the roof truss and organ.

A special feature is the three-part chime in the church tower. The oldest bell from 1490 is still in service today. The second bell (1795) was confiscated during the Second World War, but was found intact in 1948 in a collection warehouse in the Lüneburg Heath and returned. The third bell was cast in 1956 to replace a lost bell.

Today, the church is characterized by its warm wooden interior, which gives it a particularly inviting atmosphere. St. Martin's Church is one of the three churches in the parish of Eutendorf-Ottendorf.
