The energy bike route covers approximately 69 km around Wertheim. You can expect fantastic cultural and natural experiences!

In addition to the impressive old town of Wertheim, it is worth making a longer stop in Freudenberg, whose historic town centre has also been under monument protection as a complete entity since 2004. Above the town rises the ruin of Freudenberg Castle, overlooking the Main. In the north of the town, there is also a small zoo that kindly charges no entrance fee as well as a small bathing lake next to the Main.

If you want to split the route over two days, you will certainly find a suitable accommodation in Freudenberg for the night. Along the stretches in between, a visit to the Romanesque-Gothic Bronnbach monastery from the 12th century is worthwhile. Attached to the monastery, you will even find a restaurant with a wine shop. A visit to Collenburg Castle in Collenberg or Henneburg in Stadtprozelten is also a good idea. The small Asian garden designed according to Feng Shui in the south of Faulbach perfectly rounds off the energy bike route.

Route sections:

Wertheim - Waldenhausen - Reichholzheim - Bronnbach (10 km)

Bronnbach - Külsheim (7 km)

Külsheim - Steinbach - Hundheim - Dörlesberg - Sachsenhausen - Nassig - Wessental - Dürrhof - Freudenberg (29 km)

Directions

This, also quite challenging day route, takes the cyclist on a journey over mountains and through valleys. Starting in Wertheim, it goes southwards through the Tauber valley before climbing steeply out of the valley shortly before the Bronnbach monastery to Külsheim. From there, the route leads in a small arc around the Schönertsbach valley and then over meadows and fields to Freudenberg, where you descend between Schlossberg and Tannenbuckel into the Main valley. From here, it goes leisurely along the Main back to Wertheim.
