There is so much to discover in Rothenburg ob der Tauber – from the Plönlein, the landmark of Rothenburg, through the Topplerschlösschen to the medieval town fortifications – that a few hours alone are probably not enough to absorb it all.
While the wine village of Tauberzell offers more culinary delights, Creglingen has a whole series of museums. In Röttingen, towards the end of the route, you can tell the time on various sundials. Not at all impractical: this allows you to make sure several times that you catch your connecting train in Weikersheim.
