Karte GPX KML

The Hohenlohe Residence Route offers great cultural highlights over 80.7 km.

There is so much to discover in Rothenburg ob der Tauber – from the Plönlein, the landmark of Rothenburg, through the Topplerschlösschen to the medieval town fortifications – that a few hours alone are probably not enough to absorb it all.

While the wine village of Tauberzell offers more culinary delights, Creglingen has a whole series of museums. In Röttingen, towards the end of the route, you can tell the time on various sundials. Not at all impractical: this allows you to make sure several times that you catch your connecting train in Weikersheim.

Route sections:

Weikersheim - Laudenbach - Vorbachzimmern - Niederstetten (11 km)

Niederstetten - Schrozberg (10 km)

Schrozberg - Rothenburg o.d.T. (22 km)

Rothenburg o.d.T. - Detwang - Tauberzell - Creglingen (19 km)

Creglingen - Bieberehren - Röttingen (10 km)

Röttingen - Tauberrettersheim - Weikersheim (8 km)

Directions
For the crowning conclusion of the experience routes in the Tauber valley, it goes onto the Hohenlohe Residence Trail. This leads in a large loop from Weikersheim to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and back. In total, just under 82 kilometers have to be covered. From Weikersheim, one follows the Vorbach to the south up to Schrozberg, where the highest point of the route is already reached. Through a forest section, the path leads from here westwards and then takes you directly into the Tauber valley to Rothenburg. If you prefer to do the route in two stages, Rothenburg ob der Tauber naturally offers the perfect opportunity for an overnight stay. From Rothenburg, it then goes back along the Tauber to Weikersheim. You pass through the towns of Tauberzell, Creglingen, and Röttingen, where a short or sometimes longer stop is worthwhile – whether just for a physical or even cultural break, that is entirely up to you. Afterwards, it continues via Röttingen back to Weikersheim.
