From the center of Steinfurt, the route initially leads you about 300 meters west along Mönchswaldstraße. Then you turn right and follow the path to the Waldspitze. There you turn left and enjoy the romantic Katzental down to Breitenau in the Erfa valley. Afterwards, a climb to Einsiedlerklinge awaits you, and you hike through the quiet forest of Kappelberg up to Kappel – a church ruin from the 15th century. From there, it goes back down into the valley to the Wohlfahrtsmühle and then uphill to the Joseph Chapel. From the parking lot, you follow the cross trail and hike down to Hardheim up to the town hall. Eastwards, the route continues to the Alte Würzburger Straße, where after the first house you begin the ascent to the pavilion on Schmalberg. Through the Bannholz, you finally hike back relaxed to your starting point in Steinfurt.
