The market had its place here. Farmers from the surrounding area delivered their "tithe" to the courtyard. This was received and registered here. In the old days, there were also a considerable number of stables in the courtyard.
The administration was initially housed in the bailiwick building on the town wall (today: town library, Schloss-Straße 6), and later also in the Kameralamt (Schloss-Straße 2). The Kameralamt was demolished in 1967 and replaced by a new building.
